Wordless Wednesday-The Stay Game

  3. Wow! - you did really great your Stay game! my human likes to play that game with me a lot too, although we do it slightly differently. When I hear "Stay" that means I have to remain there and my human will always come back to me. If she wants me to break and run to her or just get up , then she uses a different command "Wait" - we were told that this prevents doggies from breaking out of Stays because they feel secure that their humans will always come back otherwise they will always be like a coiled spring, ready to break their Stays.

    This way doggies learn that when they hear "Stay", they must never get up until their human actually returns to them, whereas when they hear "Wait" this means they must pause and get ready to do something else when their human tells them to...

    Oh - don't worry! I'm sure the way your human is doing it is fine - there isn't a "correct" way! Anyway, it doesn't matter what words you use (you could use "banana" and "apple" if you like) as long as they are consistent. I think your human is doing a great job with you and she'll be a great dog trainer! :-)
